The Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists (NSCRT) is dedicated to ensuring that all Respiratory Therapists in Nova Scotia possess the education and skills required to deliver safe, competent, ethical, and compassionate care to the people of Nova Scotia.
As the regulatory authority for Respiratory Therapy in Nova Scotia, the NSCRT operates on behalf of the public, fostering trust in the Respiratory Therapists who support individuals, families, and communities across the province.

Position Overview
Reporting to the NSCRT Board of Directors (BoD), the Registrar will navigate a dynamic regulatory framework to make critical, high-profile decisions in a public accountability context.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic vision and regulatory expertise to the BoD.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic and operational plans.
- Ensuring effective governance of the Respiratory Therapy profession through monitoring and implementing internal policies and standards.
- Articulating the organization’s strategic direction to the NSCRT team and partners.
- Overseeing registration processes and managing the NSCRT register.
- Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key partners and collaborators.
- Participating actively in health sector and regulatory networks and projects both provincial and nationally.
- Supporting NSCRT committees through coordination, research, and guidance.
- Upholding the NSCRT’s mandate to safeguard public interest.
- It is noted that the despite the part-time nature of the position, there are often daily requests that need to be addressed, and it would be required for the Registrar to be available for a portion of most business days.
Compensation for this position will be paid at a rate of $56 - $60 / hour, based on the successful applicant's experience and qualifications.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities:
- Proven Leadership: Proven Leadership: Extensive experience in the health system, with a profound understanding of the Respiratory Therapy profession and regulatory frameworks.
- Strategic Insight: In-depth awareness of current trends and challenges in Respiratory Therapy and public health. Familiarity with the national regulatory landscape and Atlantic regional healthcare context is an asset.
- Collaborative Expertise: A resourceful networker and an inclusive leader who values the contributions of others in achieving NSCRT’s mission and goals.
- Analytical Proficiency: A logical thinker with a structured approach to planning, prioritization, and problem-solving.
- Exceptional Communication: An effective communicator adept at delivering clear, persuasive information and resolving conflicts.
