Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists is responsible for overseeing and managing the College. They work together to make sure the College follows its mission, vision, and core principles while also complying with legal rules, bylaws, and policies.
NSCRT BOD keeps updated descriptions of what Board members do. These descriptions help people who are thinking about joining the Board understand their responsibilities. They also help with evaluating Board members and making sure everyone is fulfilling their role properly.
Board members are chosen either by the College members or by the government. Their job is to provide leadership, set goals and values, and create policies that guide the College. They work to improve programs and services for both members and the public. They also support the College’s employees and volunteers, treating them as important partners in achieving the College’s mission. Board members usually serve for two years unless stated otherwise.
*Board members, committee members, and advisory group members can receive a payment, called an honorarium, from the NSCRT. This payment is meant to acknowledge their contributions to the profession. They are paid an hourly rate for attending meetings, and the Board decides the rate when approving the annual budget. The current hourly rate is $25/hour.
