About The NSCRT
The Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists (NSCRT) oversees the Respiratory Therapy profession by setting standards and making sure respiratory therapists follow provincial laws. The NSCRT is not a school - it is a professional regulatory body.
The NSCRT is led by a Board of Directors, which includes Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) appointed by the Board of Directors and public representatives appointed by the government. Their main job is to protect the public.
The Board also creates committees that handle important tasks, such as:
- Registering new members
- Setting professional standards
- Ensuring therapists continue learning
- Managing complaints
If a complaint is made, the NSCRT investigates and, if needed, takes action against registrants for serious issues like misconduct, incompetence, or incapacity.
