2016 National Competency Framework for Respiratory Therapists
National Competency Framework update
The National Competency Framework is the foundation document that informs education curriculum, the CBRC exam, scopes of practice, and continuing competency requirements.
The on-line validation survey has been completed with more than 15% of RRTs nationally taking part. Nova Scotia RRTs contributed to the validation with 44 participating in the survey as well as 5 RRTs who participated in the development of the NCF and the preliminary validation process. The NCF project steering committee and consultants will meet in Halifax in January to review the survey analysis and finalize the framework. The final step before publication is to consult with the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care on examination and to develop an examination matrix.
Thank you to all who participated in this very important project.
